The company I work for was acquired last Friday. The new dress code states we are supposed to wear dress shirts and ties. I sit in my own office all day, I don’t have to interface with clients, I fix servers and switches. WTF do I need to wear a tie? Give me polos or give me death! Maybe I can get some car themed ties.

And an unrelated rant, the new insurance plan is only $147 more per month :( Sure, just rip an extra $1800 out of my salary, that’s just peachy.

Personally if this happens once my companies new owners take over I’m going full cliche engineer. Pocket protector in my white, short sleeved, collared shirt. Loaded with pens, markers, and a small ruler.

Also technically a Hawaiian shirt is a collard dress shirt.....

I know its a ‘blazer’ but the unstructured cut, patch pockets, and fabric texture will tone down the formal flavor while also not looking like you ran out to Walmart and bought your first button down and tie. You can look like someone who takes pride in their appearance while also looking like you just threw it on.

This is the exact look I go for at work and we don’t even have a dress code, I could rock a t-shirt and jeans if I wanted to.

Have fun with it. Visit your local Goodwill and buy some bow ties, Western bow ties, bolo ties, and maybe even a cravat or two. Be sure to pick up some mis-matched short-sleeved rayon and silk shirts in clashing colors and patterns. Go full-on retard with it.
